Your Computer Working A Little Slow?
If you have noticed a measurable slowness in your computer
but your anti-virus software shows nothing. It is very likely that you have
spyware installed on your system. Spyware creeping in can cause the same
effects as a virus can. So, it is important to scan your system regularly to
avoid slow times or even "down time". The symptoms are usually:
-
Automatic redirection to unknown web site
-
Unexplained Internet settings changes
-
Popups when not connected to the Internet
-
System Slowness
-
System Unresponsiveness
-
System Unreliability (error messages)
I know most of you have experienced some of
these symptoms at one time or another. Spyware can (if
ignored for a while) start to build in file size so that it finally becomes
a noticeable drain on your computers resources.
In these cases, a good spyware scanner (or two) can zap these nasties and
get your computer running back to normal in no time. Here's what I
recommend:
Download the following programs:
-
Adaware SE (freeware)
-
AVG Anti-Spyware (trial use)
Once these programs have been downloaded, be
sure to update them to ensure that you are scanning for the latest nasties.
Use one, and then the other. It is OK to remove all (recommended) files that
it has found.
If after that, you are still having troubles, you will need to download a
program called
HijackThis. The FREE download and instructions are located here:
